¿Cómo se crean buenos hábitos?

En primer lugar, liberándonos de la obligación social de mostrarnos siempre muy sonrientes, satisfechos, felices y realizados. La vida es dura y lo es para todos. Cada uno de nosotros tiene que encontrar su propio ritmo y crear hábitos (requiere mucho tiempo y paciencia) que se ajusten a nuestras necesidades.

Empecemos por lo básico: ¿qué son los buenos hábitos?

Los hábitos son comportamientos automáticos, repetitivos y, a menudo, inconscientes que se ponen en práctica con regularidad. Cada vez que nos enfrentamos a una nueva tarea por primera vez, nuestro cerebro trabaja duro para asimilar la nueva información y procesarla. Una vez comprendido el comportamiento, se convierte en automático y la actividad mental necesaria para una acción determinada disminuye drásticamente.

De esta forma, los hábitos son aprendidos por la mente, y las acciones resultantes ya no pesan (aparcar, aprender un programa informático, una receta, nuevos ritmos debidos a la escuela, el trabajo, los compromisos).


Estamos llenos de hábitos. Por lo tanto, como primer paso, debemos deshacernos de los malos hábitos y dejar sitio a las nuevas experiencias que echamos de menos o necesitamos. Como queda claro en esta introducción, los hábitos se instalan en la mente y se presentan de forma aleatoria en nuestra vida cotidiana, por lo que se corre el riesgo de que los malos hábitos se conviertan en adicciones.


Hay que prestar mucha atención a lo que nos parece mal y tomar medidas. Pongamos un ejemplo práctico. Si te cuesta despertarte por las mañanas y el día te resulta agotador, lo más probable es que debas analizar tus hábitos de sueño.


¿Comes demasiado por la noche y te causa molestias? Controla tu alimentación: mastica más despacio, suelta los cubiertos entre bocado y bocado, no bebas durante las comidas, come poco a poco, come menos cantidad.


O bien: ¿te vas a la cama y miras el móvil hasta que te duermes? No sobrecargues tus sinapsis, apaga el móvil e intenta leer.
Sin duda, estas acciones conducen a una mejora de tu nivel de sueño y, por lo tanto, te sentirás vigorizada y satisfecha.


Pero llevarlo a cabo, así como cualquier medida correctora que todos nosotros necesitamos, no es nada sencillo.

¿Qué hace falta para adquirir hábitos saludables? Fuerza de voluntad y autodisciplina, durante un tiempo mínimo de, al menos, dos meses. El primer mes es crucial para el éxito de tu cambio. En tus treinta días de cambio debes respetar estos pasos:

  1.  Empieza con buen pie: los tres primeros días sentirás una increíble carga de entusiasmo que te llenará de alegría. No te pases, intenta ceñirte a las reglas que te has marcado.
  2. Las primeras dificultades: tras la primera semana, el entusiasmo inicial ya habrá decaído, pero no las dificultades. Si el esfuerzo de la ejecución te pesa demasiado, intenta "fraccionar" tu objetivo. Por ejemplo: si sigues sintiendo la necesidad de pasar tiempo con el móvil, pon un temporizador e intenta reducir el tiempo hasta que llegue a cero.
  3. Crees que ya lo has conseguido: después del décimo día, empiezas a ver la diferencia y algunas acciones están aprendidas. No bajes la guardia, permanece atenta y vigilante. Ahora es el momento de pisar a fondo el pedal de la constancia.
  4. La caída. Es normal, no te preocupes, levántate. Pero recuerda: hay caídas y caídas, están las que se pueden evitar y, luego, están los obstáculos en el camino. Lo importante es levantarse bien.
  5. La práctica. Tu comportamiento se consolida, los resultados son tangibles (tu piel ha mejorado, estás menos cansada, eres más activa, has perdido peso), y estás muy contenta con los resultados. Esta es la fase más delicada, si abandonas tu camino ahora tendrás que empezar, de nuevo, desde el paso 1.
